My Philosophy
Our body and our mind are constantly changing. We are born, grow up, mature and age. We are influenced by forces that enter from without and emotions that come from within. The system of energy channels, or meridians, in our body helps us to adapt to all these changes so as to move smoothly through life. The free flow of Qi, or energy, through the channel system can be called a state of health. Sometimes an extreme climate, emotion or trauma can throw our body out of balance, creating a blockage or imbalance in the channel system or in the organs of the body. This blockage or imbalance can be called disease. With time, this state can resolve by itself or it may require outside intervention.

The states of health or disease in the human body are transitory. These states can be compared to success and failure in the famous quote attributed to Winston Churchill: "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." It is key, both physically and psychologically, to keep ourselves moving forward, to ever evolve. It may not be possible to go back to how things used to be before we got unwell. What’s important is to avoid stasis, to strive toward health and a new state of equilibrium. Many healing modalities can be helpful on this journey to a new balance. Acupuncture is one of the oldest and best.
